Cory Tixier, a NAMA Certified Ayurvedic Doctor and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist, is a licensed massage therapist with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She has dedicated the majority of her career to the medical industry, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice.
Before embarking on her journey in Ayurveda, Cory founded Pure Habitat NYC, an eco-friendly cleaning and consulting service in New York City. This venture reflects her commitment to sustainable practices and her belief in creating healthy, balanced environments.
Cory’s immersive journey into Ayurveda began at the esteemed Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico, where she graduated with high marks from both the Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) and Ayurvedic Health Practitioner (AHP) programs. Recognizing her talent and dedication, Dr. Vasant Lad invited her to join the faculty just before her graduation. Over the next seven years, Cory’s roles were as diverse as they were enriching. She served as a faculty member for various Level One and Two classes, sharing her knowledge with eager students. As a clinical supervisor, she oversaw both student and patient care, ensuring the highest standards were met. Her skills as a Panchakarma therapist and yoga teacher further added to the institute’s comprehensive offerings.
Cory’s commitment and expertise did not go unnoticed. Dr. Lad presented her with a new challenge – to head the Panchakarma Therapist Training Program at the Vasant Institute of Ayurveda in Pune, India. In this role, Cory was responsible for developing curriculum, teaching students, overseeing client care in the clinic, and managing the overall program and scheduling for students and clients. This experience allowed her to deepen her understanding of Clinical Ayurveda and hone her skills in education and program management.
Through these diverse roles, Cory not only contributed significantly to the growth of the institutes but also enriched her own understanding and practice of Ayurveda. Her experiences have shaped her into a well-rounded Ayurvedic Doctor and educator, capable of guiding others on their journey towards holistic health and wellness.
In 2017, Cory established the Ayurveda Academy at Integral Yoga in New York City. This initiative provides Yoga professionals with a pathway to certification as Ayurvedic Health Councilors. Cory is also the co-founder of Ayurveda for the People™, a collective of educators and alternative health practitioners who volunteer their time to empower individuals and communities to take control of their health and well-being. In recognition of her contributions, Ayurveda for the People was awarded an Artist Residency at the Andrew Freedman Home in the South Bronx. Here, Cory offered Ayurvedic services, yoga classes, and health education to the community, further extending the reach of Ayurvedic principles and practices.
As an active member of NAMA and a dedicated Yogi, Cory contributes to the AYT Sub committee, overseeing certification and accreditation for schools aiming to qualify for the Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist credential.
Cory’s deep understanding of Vedic wisdom, coupled with her ability to convey it in practical and gentle ways, sets her apart in the field. She offers personalized health guidance, mentorship programs, and traditional Ayurvedic therapies. Her classes and workshops focus on living in harmony with nature’s rhythms, as she believes that true health and happiness are attained when one aligns with these natural cycles.
Cory’s expertise and passion for Ayurveda have led to invitations to teach across the globe, from health centers in Delhi, India, to medical schools in the United States. Her commitment to spreading the principles of Ayurveda and holistic health education is unwavering.
Throughout her career, Cory has had the honor of studying with other Ayurveda masters such as Dr. Ramkumar, Mukunda Styles, Robert Svaboda, and Claudia Welch. These experiences have enriched her knowledge and practice, allowing her to provide the best care and education to her clients and students.
Today, Cory continues her mission of spreading Ayurvedic principles and practices at Ayurveda Hale, a wellness education center she established with her husband on the North Shore of Oahu. Here, they offer a range of services including health consultations and Panchakarma, a traditional Ayurvedic detoxification treatment. Recognizing the importance of nurturing the next generation of Ayurvedic practitioners, they also offer internships and mentorship programs. Cory’s journey, from student to teacher, from practitioner to wellness center founder, is a testament to her dedication to Ayurveda and her commitment to helping others discover the path to holistic health and wellness.
